U13 Session POSTPONED

Dear Parent,

I’m sure you are all aware that on Saturday evening the Government announced a four week lockdown to help slow the increase of Coronavirus. Since this announcement the Government have released detailed guidance on various measures and restrictions which has included the stopping of all non-elite football activities for the duration of the lockdown. This means that the planned West Cornwall Under 13 training session scheduled for Friday 6th November has been postponed.

The management team are extremely disappointed that we are not able to start working with the players ahead of the season, and are sure the players share this disappointment. However, the most important thing is that everyone stays safe and follows government guidelines.

We are hopeful and optimistic that we can return to football at the start of December, when lockdown ends and therefore plan to have the rescheduled training session and a friendly match against a local opposition before Christmas. Due to the uncertainty I cannot provide any confirmed dates but in what is no doubt going to be a challenging time for everyone, we hope this provides the boys with some encouragement and something to look forward to on the other side of lockdown.

If anyone has any questions then please feel free to email me. I will be in touch when I have more information but for now please take care of yourselves and stay safe.

Regards and best wishes,

Dom Angove
On behalf of the West Cornwall Under 13 Management Team

U13 Final Training Session

A massive thank you to all players who have taken part in the process so far. The management team have been absolutely delighted with the standard of the trials and therefore selecting a final squad has proven to be extremely difficult. Due to the incredibly high standard, we are not currently in a position to name a final squad for the season, and instead will be inviting the players listed below to a training session on Friday 6th November, 7pm-9pm at Mounts Bay Academy. This gives the coaching staff one final chance to assess the players before announcing the final squad for the season. We feel this will allow us to make a more informed decision and give the players a chance to feel they have been given as much opportunity as possible to show their best selves.

We appreciate that the players who miss out at this stage will be bitterly disappointed, but we will continue to track their progress throughout the season. By getting to the stage they did, they should be very proud and we wish them the very best of luck in their next football chapter.

• Please can players arrive and depart in suitable playing kit as there will be no changing rooms available. Water bottles should be marked with the player’s name.
• If any player is feeling unwell then they should not attend the trial – this will not impact their chances of being selected as we will do our best to accommodate. Please also do not attend if you or anyone in your household is waiting for COVID-19 test results.
• If a player feels unwell during the session, they must alert a member of staff immediately.
• Please use the designated drop off/pick up area, which is outside the front entrance to the Sports Centre. This area is no longer a car park and will be coned off. Please use the outdoor tennis courts for parking.
